Watershed Ecology Lab Research Technician
Job Description: Dr. Kaplan’s Watershed Ecology Lab at the University of Florida is seeking a Research Technician to assist with field research. Primary tasks will be related to hydraulic research being conducted in Florida springs and spring-fed rivers. This position requires time in the field in aquatic environments. Much of the field time will be spent on watercraft and in the water. Duration and timing of field work is variable and depend on research needs. Field work may require early morning departures, evening departures, and/or overnight stays.
Tasks include:
Assist with research and collecting of data through complex techniques and procedures, library research, or other project specific methodology.
Assist with interpretation, synthesis and analysis of data.
Maintaining and organizing lab and field equipment.
Preparing field equipment for deployment.
Assisting with the development of research equipment, techniques, procedures, and tests.
Performs other related duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license
Proficient with the operation of motorized watercraft
Strong swimming abilities
Proficient snorkeler
Able to lift at least 50 lbs

Hours and pay:
Up to 20 hours per week; hours will be variable based on field schedule
$12-14 per hour depending on experience
